Suzuki Motorcycle India reopens over half its dealerships

Suzuki Motorcycle India has sent out a press release stating that, following the resumption of dispatches from its factories on May 18, more than 50 percent of its dealerships have restarted, as of May 22. Following a relaxation in the lockdown, the dealerships have begun operations and have seen over 5,000 new two-wheelers sold, in addition to the servicing of over 50,000 vehicles.

Like a number of other manufacturers that have gotten back to business, Suzuki has said that it has charted-out detailed precautionary guidelines for dealerships, ensuring they function smoothly and without compromising on the wellbeing of the people in them.

Koichiro Hirao, MD, Suzuki Motorcycle India said, “We are pleased to resume our retail and dispatch services in almost all parts of the country, except for those in containment zones, as per the government directives. We have prepared extensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the dealerships, which include frequent sanitisation and practicing social distancing. We can assure our existing and potential consumers that it is entirely safe to enter the showrooms to buy new vehicles and get the existing ones serviced. In addition, for the convenience of our customers, SMIPL also plans to introduce various customer-friendly initiatives, allowing easy ownership and extending support to our dealer partners.”

Going forward, Suzuki also plans to introduce newer processes to limit human interaction at a dealership.
