These sales have amounted to over Rs 100 crore in revenue

River currently has 20 outlets in India, including cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Hubli, Visakhapatnam, Kochi, Coimbatore, Vellore, Tirupati and Mysore. It plans to expand into Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Pune in the coming weeks. River also aims to operate in over 100 cities by 2026 through a mix of company-owned stores and dealerships.

River is a Bengaluru-based startup and has currently chosen to focus on the Southern and Western regions of the country, with an aim to first solidify its presence in regions that have increased EV penetration before expanding to further locations.

The River Indie features a total of 43 litres of storage capacity and has a focus on practicality and utility rather than outright features. Yamaha has recently made an investment in River via one of its subsidiaries and is broaching the possibility of using the Indie’s platform for its own electric scooter for India.
