Piaggio One electric scooter specifications released

Piaggio has released the specifications of the One electric scooter. The scooter will be available in three trims – One, One + and One Active.

    • Top variant gets a 2kW motor

    • Removable battery can be charged in six hours

    • Piaggio One platform to spawn more products

    Piaggio One: specifications

The Piaggio One is the base model and is powered by a 1.2kW motor and has a top speed of 45kph. It also has the smallest battery of the three models, at 1.8kWh, and unsurprisingly the least range, at 55km.

The mid-spec variant, the One+ gets the same 1.2kWh electric motor but a larger battery, at 2.3kWh. This variant can hit speeds of 55kph and can cover 100km on a single charge.

The Piaggio One Active is the top-spec variant and hence gets a 2kW motor. It propels the scooter to a top whack of 60kph. The battery size, meanwhile, is the same as the One+ but the range is lower, at 85km.

Speaking of batteries, Piaggio claims these can be charged from 0 to full in six hours.

    Piaggio One: features and chassis

The Piaggio One has a comprehensive features list that includes removable batteries, two ride modes, LED lights and USB charging. It also gets a fully-digital instrument cluster.

The electric scooter features single-sided trailing-link front suspension. At the rear, there's a double-sided swingarm suspended on twin shock absorbers. Braking duties are taken care of by a disc brake on both wheels.

    Piaggio’s future plans

The Piaggio One is expected to go on sale in Europe in a few weeks. Following the launch, Piaggio will use the electric One platform to accommodate everything, from an electric moped to an electric motorcycle. All the models are expected to feature swappable battery packs, and varying motor output levels.

As far as India is concerned, it's quite unlikely that the One will be seen in showrooms here. However, an Aprilia or Vespa electric scooter may hit our shores sometime in the future.
