TVS dethrones Ola for top spot

Electric two-wheelers accounted for 56 percent of India’s total 22.7 lakh EV sales across all segments in 2025. Of the 20.29 million two-wheelers sold in India during 2025, EVs accounted for 6.30 percent, up from 6.07 percent in 2024.

TVS Motor emerged as the new market leader with 2,98,867 units sold, ending Ola Electric’s three-year run at the top. TVS topped monthly sales charts eight times and commanded a 23 percent market share, improving from 19 percent in 2024. The manufacturer narrowly missed the 3,00,000-unit mark by just 1,133 units.

Bajaj Auto moved to second position with 2,69,836 units, up 39 percent YoY, cornering a 21 percent market share. The company crossed both the 2,00,000 and 2,50,000 milestones for the first time, though production was impacted in July-August due to supply chain issues for critical rare-earth magnets.

Ola’s dramatic fall

Ola Electric’s sales collapsed to 1,99,316 units in 2025, down 51 percent from 4,07,700 units in 2024. The three-time market leader fell to fourth position for the first time, with its market share more than halving from 35 percent to 15.57 percent. January’s 24,411 units remained its highest monthly performance, with each subsequent month recording high double-digit declines.

Ather, Hero clock record sales

Ather Energy registered 2,00,785 units, up 59 percent, crossing the 2,00,000-unit mark for the first time. The Rizta family scooter accounted for around 70 percent of its sales, with the company’s Battery-as-a-Service model helping reduce upfront costs. Ather’s market share improved to 16 percent from 11 percent in 2024.

Hero MotoCorp delivered 1,09,167 units, up 150 percent, crossing 1,00,000 units annually for the first time. Strong demand for the Vida VX2 drove growth, with monthly sales crossing the 10,000-unit mark from July onwards. October’s 16,027 units marked its best monthly performance.

Greaves Electric Mobility sold 56,639 units, up 57 percent, while Bgauss, Pure EV, River Mobility and Kinetic Green rounded out the top 10 manufacturers. Combined, the top six manufacturers accounted for 89 percent of total electric two-wheeler sales.
