Ola Electric has begun accepting bookings or reservations for its upcoming scooter at Rs 499.

    • The booking amount is fully refundable

    • It will be made at a new factory in Tamil Nadu

    • The scooter features all-LED lighting

The bookings for the upcoming electric scooter are being taken online and the company has said that the amount is fully refundable. A few days ago, Ola Electric also took to social media to announce a few features of the scooter, including an app-based start-up system and largest in class underseat storage space.

The Indian company also recently responded to Maharashtra's new aggressive policy that provides incentives up to Rs 44,000 for electric two wheelers. It said, “We welcome Maharashtra govt's comprehensive policy to accelerate EV adoption, from government fleet and public transport to delivery and logistics providers as well as charging infrastructure and cell manufacturing. This'll be a massive enabler for the move to sustainable mobility.”

    Ola electric scooter: features

What we also know is that the scooter itself is based on the Etergo Appscooter - a Dutch start-up company that Ola acquired in 2020. The company says that it has since heavily revised this platform to offer more performance, better range as well as improved technology. Ola claims that it will have segment leading performance and range figures, although actual specifications are not yet out. The Ola Electric scooter gets the same single telescopic front suspension as seen on the Etergo, but it will likely be tweaked for our riding environment and will also help keep costs low.

Ola electric scooter: launch date and expected price

While the company hasn’t announced a specific date, the scooter is expected to hit the market in the coming weeks. Ola also revealed that the scooter will come out of a brand new manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu that will have an initial capacity of two million units. Such levels of scale will allow the company to price the scooter aggressively, and Ola is targeting premium 125cc petrol powered scooters with the pricing.
