Okinawa Praise Pro

Okinawa has recalled 3,215 units of its Praise Pro electric scooter to check for any potential battery-related issues. Of late, there have been a spate of 'thermal runaway' incidents in the country, with the Internet beaming pictures of electric scooters on fire. Recently, an Okinawa scooter was seen on fire, its battery engulfed in smoke seemingly due to the thermal runaway issue.

Okinawa says that, in light of such incidents, it is holding the power pack health check-up camp for its customers. Under this programme, Okinawa authorised dealers will contact customers and carry out the battery inspection as per their convenience. The technicians will check the battery for any loose connectors or any damage. In case the battery needs attention, it will be fixed at no cost to the customer.

These proactive steps by EV manufacturers are the need of the hour in order to maintain a customer's faith in the growing electric two-wheeler segment.

Let us know in the comments what you think about such steps taken by EV manufacturers.
