News of Vinfast filing new two-wheeler patents in India has become somewhat regular this year, with the company patenting three e-scooters and a motorcycle since June. This bodes well for the brand’s upcoming entry into our market and the letters of intent it had signed with as many as 50 dealers recently to set up a sales and service network. This time, we’ve got a pretty great look at another patent for an e-scooter, which looks like it could be one of the India-specific products.

  1. This is the fifth two-wheeler patented by Vinfast in India
  2. It could be powered by a hub motor and run on 14-inch wheels

Vinfast’s new electric scooter: Details

Scooter appears to have a telescopic fork and twin shocks; could be an entry-level model

Vinfast filed this patent in April 2026, and the drawings give us a pretty good look at the scooter from all angles. The scooter has a clean front fascia, with the Vinfast logo at the top and what appears to be a horizontally mounted headlight unit flanked by integrated indicators. We can see the exposed handlebar and an instrument display, which could be an LCD or a TFT unit.

The scooter appears to have 14-inch wheels at both ends, a telescopic fork and twin shocks. Currently, only two e-scooters come close to this spec: the Ather Konarc and TVS Orbiter. That said, which models it ends up rivalling depends entirely on its powertrain and Vinfast’s pricing strategy. While we don’t know the details, considering the simpler rear-wheel-mounted hub motor architecture and overall compact proportions, this could be one of the entry-level offerings from the Vietnamese manufacturer.

The patent’s bottom view of the scooter shows a thickly cladded floorboard, suggesting that it could house the battery. If so, it could open up a substantial amount of boot space. However, the raked tail will limit how deep it can be. The patent also shows the scooter with a conventional key attached, which is par for the course considering that only a handful of e-scooters – like the Suzuki e-Access – offer a keyless system at the moment. Vinfast is yet to announce an official launch timeline or confirm an Indian roster. We should learn more details about the vehicles when it does.

Poll of the month

There will be 12 new Citroen and Jeep launches by 2030. Will this boost interest in these brands?

Yes, fresh models is just what's needed.
Only if sales and service expands alongside.
Won't be enough. Established brands are too strong.
