Mahindra’s website lists a new version of the Gusto scooter, called the RS, which stands out with a unique, loud and striking graphics scheme. Its design makes use of a number of stripes and gets prominent ‘RS’ branding on the front apron. The RS comes in red and blue colours, with detailing in white.

Mechanically, the Gusto RS remains unchanged and features the same smooth 8hp, 109.6cc single-cylinder engine and large 12-inch wheels as the regular Gusto. It also comes with clever features like a reverse kick-starter, which can be used without putting the scooter on the main stand. Further kit includes LED position lights and soft rubber extensions on the foot pegs so as to avoid hurting the rider’s legs when walking the scooter through heavy traffic.

The Gusto RS has been priced at Rs 48,180 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which puts it slightly above the base Gusto DX, but lower than the mid-spec HX and top VX variants. Given the pricing, we suspect it will miss out on the clever height- adjustable seat and flip-key feature seen on the VX model.
