KTM has unveiled the 2027 Freeride E, an updated version of its flagship electric off-road motorcycle that promises improved performance and range over the outgoing model. The Freeride E platform has been around for over a decade, and KTM says this latest iteration builds on the experience it has gained over that time.
- Makes 19.2kW peak power and 37Nm of torque
- 5.5kWh battery allows for 2-3 hours of enduro riding
- New Freeride E weighs just 112kg
2027 KTM Freeride E details
The KTM Freeride E is a street-legal model
The 2027 KTM Freeride E is powered by a waterproof and dustproof electric motor producing 19.2kW of peak power and 37Nm of torque. This enables a claimed top speed of 95kph. Power delivery can be adjusted via three ride modes, and there are also three levels of regenerative braking.
The electric powertrain is fed by a 5.5kWh lithium-ion battery that KTM claims will provide 2-3 hours of typical enduro riding time and withstand over 1,000 charging cycles before dropping to 80 percent effectiveness. While not swappable in the conventional sense, KTM says the battery pack can be removed in under 10 minutes if it needs replacement. The battery weighs 29kg, making it one of the largest contributors to the motorcycle’s overall weight of 112kg. Charging time is 8 hours with the standard 660W charger, or 1.5 hours with the optional 3.3kW fast charger.
The 2027 Freeride E is built around a chrome-molybdenum steel frame housing the battery and motor, with an aluminium and glass-fibre-reinforced nylon subframe. Suspension duties are handled by adjustable WP units at both ends, paired with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear aluminium wheels shod with Michelin Enduro Medium tyres. As expected from an enduro motorcycle, the Freeride E has a relatively tall seat height of 910mm.
KTM has confirmed that the 2027 Freeride E will be available through authorised dealers globally from later this month. While many of the brand’s models are sold in India, KTM has not officially introduced its electric line-up here, so it’s unlikely that the new Freeride E will arrive in our market anytime soon.
