We know that an RC iteration of the 160 Duke is in the works for KTM. In fact, we exclusively reported that KTM is developing a 160cc engine based on the 200cc unit for both the Duke and the RC. Now, a test mule of the RC 160 has been spotted testing.
- KTM RC 160 spotted with a black and orange paint scheme
- To feature the same alloys and LCD as the 160 Duke
- The RC 160 will produce 19hp and 15.5Nm
KTM RC 160 spotted: What to expect?
The 160 will serve as an entry point in KTM’s RC range
The RC 160 is slated to be the entry point in KTM’s RC line-up and will essentially replace the erstwhile RC 125. The spy shots reveal design details and confirm that, much like the 160 Duke, the RC 160 will also be based on the RC 200, with a similar headlight setup. The test mule sports an orange and black paint scheme. The LCD dash and alloy wheels seem to be unchanged from the 160 Duke.
While KTM hasn’t announced any specifications, we know that the RC 160 will carry the same engine as the 160 Duke. It will be powered by a 164.2cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that will be based on the 200 Duke’s unit, producing 19hp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500rpm. This marks a significant step up from the previous 125cc KTM unit’s 14.5hp, giving it an edge over Yamaha’s 155cc model (18.4hp) while still staying below the 200cc KTM’s 25hp
For now, the RC 160’s testing seems to be in full swing, but we do not know when the model will be finally launched.
