Kinetic Green has patented the design of a new electric scooter in India, which resembles the original Kinetic Honda DX 2-stroke scooter. It appears that, just like the E-Luna, the company is resurrecting another one of its legacy models in an electric avatar.

The upcoming EV has many design similarities with the original Kinetic Honda DX
Straightaway, we can see that this new Kinetic Green electric scooter bears more than a passing resemblance to the original ‘KiHo’, with its boxy, angular lines and rectangular headlight. Other callback elements on the electric scooter include the small flyscreen atop the headlight, which says ‘Kinetic’ – just like the original said ‘Kinetic Honda DX’ – and the two little vents in the plastic panel under the seat.
Today’s electric scooter market is a densely populated one and is dominated by the Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube. As such, if the upcoming Kinetic Green electric scooter were to be benchmarked against these two bestsellers, we can expect performance to be modest yet usable, with a top speed in the 70-80kph range. So far, Kinetic Green’s products have had lower top speeds, usually in the 50kph ballpark, and this electric scooter could change that, especially considering that the original two-stroke Kinetic Honda DX was a zippy little thing that was quicker than the 4-stroke Activa that made it redundant.
One unique design touch on the original KiHo was the spare wheel mounted to the back of the scooter, and it is (understandably) absent on its modern reincarnation. Some other points that bear mentioning are that the Kinetic Green electric scooter has a telescopic front fork – as opposed to its predecessor’s trailing link front suspension – and appears to roll on 12-inch alloy wheels, with what appears to be a disc brake peeking out from behind the front wheel.
Interestingly, a little further digging reveals that Kinetic Green has filed a trademark for a new name – Zwag – to be used on an upcoming two-wheeler, and it remains to be seen whether this electric scooter, which is based on the Kinetic Honda DX, is called that or something else entirely.
Currently, Kinetic Green’s portfolio comprises the E-Luna (Rs 69,990-Rs 82,490) and a couple of Chinese-origin electric scooters. We expect this upcoming electric scooter will be the company’s most expensive product in the modern era, although where exactly it ends up being positioned is a question only time will tell.
