Ducati Diavel V4-based XDiavel to debut soon, India launch

Ducati has released a teaser on its social media for a new motorcycle that will debut on February 13. Judging by the low-slung, raked-out silhouette, we believe it to be the new XDiavel V4. The previous XDiavel was based on the same platform as the V-Twin Diavel 1260, but it was designed to be more of a cruiser via a number of internal and external changes.

  1. XDiavel V4 will be based on same platform as Diavel V4
  2. V4 Granturismo engine makes 168hp, 126Nm in the Diavel
  3. XDiavel will likely cost more than Diavel upon launch

Since Ducati has shifted the Diavel over to V4 territory, it stands to reason that its cruiser-y sibling, the XDiavel, will make that change as well. In the case of the previous-gen V-Twin XDiavel, Ducati had tuned the motor to make its peak torque much lower in the rev band and replaced the Diavel’s chain final drive with a belt drive. Given that the Diavel V4’s engine is rated for 168hp and 126Nm of torque, expect the XDiavel’s peak output to be in the same ballpark as well.

There were also some very unique and top-notch cosmetic touches like billet machined mirrors, exquisitely designed alloy wheels as well as a more relaxed riding position that differentiated the XDiavel from the Diavel. Expect most of the mechanical fundamentals of the Diavel V4 to make their way onto the XDiavel as well.

In V-Twin guise, the Ducati XDiavel was priced about Rs 1 lakh more than the corresponding Diavel. Considering that the Diavel V4 is currently priced at Rs 27.21 lakh (ex-showroom, India), we expect the XDiavel to be priced above that mark when it comes to our shores.
