The Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 has recently been homologated in India, sparking speculation that the bike will be launched here soon.

  1. Shares same platform as the Husqvarna Vitpilen 250
  2. Has a similar design to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401

Earlier this year, the new-gen Husqvarna motorcycles were launched in India, but only in two versions – the Vitpilen 250 and the Svartpilen 401. This is the first time that a 401 model has been available in India, and you can read the review here or watch it here. However, Bajaj decided to launch the 401 in Svartpilen flavour only, while the 250 platform would be available in the street-naked style Vitpilen model.

This new homologation document suggests that Bajaj could be gearing up to launch the Svartpilen 250, and compared to the Vitpilen 250, this bike gets a darker bodywork, a taller handlebar and more blocky tyres. However, unlike the Svartpilen 401, this bike will not get spoked wheels and instead run on alloys with tubeless tyres. While the 401 gets fancy Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres, expect to see something more cost-effective on the Svartpilen 250.

Apart from that, one can expect the same features as the Vitpilen 250, which includes an LCD display, switchable dual-channel ABS and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. The engine will also be the same 249cc motor that puts out 31hp and 25Nm of torque.

The question of whether this bike will go on sale in India depends entirely on the demand that Bajaj sees for the two existing Husqvarna bikes, which are on sale through KTM dealers. If there is enough demand for them, Bajaj could easily launch both the Svartpilen 250 and the Vitpilen 401 here as the entire 250 and 401 street bike range is manufactured in Chakan.
