Honda’s CBR250R was specially developed for developing world two-wheeler markets such as India. This faired-in, 250 single set foot here back in 2011, since when the quarter litre motorcycle has caught the fancy of several sportsbike enthusiasts. Honda is now taking this a step further, having just showcased their latest CBR300R at the 12th China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition, Chongqing. Kawasaki recently upgraded its Ninja 250R, bringing on the Ninja 300 and Honda has followed with the same strategy.

The CBR300R will be produced at Honda’s Thailand production facility, from where this exciting new sportsbike will ship to various markets around the world. Unlike the CBR250R which borrows styling cues from the VFR family, the CBR300R shares design philosophy with the Fireblade series sportsbikes, which is a good thing. The CBR300R’s front nose with twin sharply styled headlights and other body panels along this bike clearly mirror that of the latest CBR1000RR.

Expect the CBR300R to enter showrooms in India in 2014, after which it will take on arch rival, Kawasaki’s twin-cylinder Ninja 300.
