Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has launched the CRF1000L Africa Twin adventure tourer in India at an attractive price of Rs 12.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The motorcycle, available with dual-clutch transmission (nope, a manual is not an option), is open for bookings for an initial batch of 50 units. Honda has managed to price the motorcycle attractively since it will be sold via CKD, not CBU, route.

The Africa Twin is powered by a 998cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. Renowned for its off-roading prowess, the bike is built on a semi-double cradle-type frame using high-tensile steel, has high ground clearance with low seat height option and a long 62-inch wheelbase. The electronics primarily include switchable anti-lock braking system and an advanced traction control system that comes with three modes.

In the words of Y.S. Guleria, senior vice president, sales and marketing, HMSI, “The Africa Twin name is inseparable from the spirit of the Dakar Rally, the world’s toughest rally raids. Down to its roots, when the going gets tough, the Africa Twin gets going. There is nothing to hold back an enthusiast on the Africa Twin, as it’s the most reliable, versatile and proven adventure touring motorcycle.”
