Honda Activa sales cross 2 crore mark

The Honda Activa continues to set new sales record. Midway into the festival season, the Japanese brand announced that sales of the Activa scooter has crossed the 2 crore sales milestone, and expectedly, it’s also the first and only scooter on sale in India to achieve this landmark. The most interesting data is the fact that it took Honda 15 years to cross the 1 crore mark, while the second crore took just three years. This shouldn’t come as a surprise though as the Activa has been the highest-selling two-wheeler in India for the past few years, displacing the Hero Splendor.

Speaking about the sales achievement, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Since its launch in 2001 as Honda’s first two-wheeler in India, Activa has successfully re-activated the Indian automatic scooter market and redefined convenient mobility on two wheels for India. We thank all our Customers for their continued trust in Activa over its five generations in 18 years. Activa has continuously evolved ahead of times & we are elated by the confidence reposed across all ages, genders and geographies and are confident Activa will remain Customers preferred choice this festival as well.”

The Activa can be credited for reigniting the scooter segment in India when it made its debut in 2001. Over the years, the success of the 110cc scooter has urged other manufacturers to enter the scooter segment and scooter sales have soared over the past few years. Earlier this year, the Activa 5G was launched at the 2018 Auto Expo with additional LED headlight and the base variant is priced at Rs 53,685 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
