Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has just launched the BS-IV compliant version of the Activa i – a smaller, slimmer, and lighter version of their ever-popular Activa scooter aimed at more of a female audience.

The biggest changes to the bike, apart from the engine now complying with more stringent emissions norms, are a new dual-tone paint scheme, bright decals, body-coloured mirrors and Auto Headlamp On (always running headlights). There are no real mechanical changes to the scooter.

The BS-IV compliant 109cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, HET (Honda Eco Technology) motor is good for 8hp of peak power and 8.94Nm of peak torque. With a fairly light weight of 103kg, acceleration is sprightly for its class and it’s an easy scooter to handle.

In terms of storage, the Activa i gets 18 litres of underseat storage with an optional mobile charging socket. The scooter is shod with 90/100-sized tubeless tyres on 10-inch rims at both ends and it also features Honda’s proprietary Combi-brake system with equaliser for safely slowing down in most conditions. The brakes themselves are 130mm drums at both ends.

This 2017 Activa i is available in five dual-tone colours – Orchid Purple Metallic, Lush Magenta Metallic, Neo Orange Metallic, Black and Imperial Red Metallic, and is priced at Rs 47,913 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
