Ahead of the July 1 launch event, Hero has officially teased the next products that will be coming under the Vida banner, the family-oriented VX2 models. The new VX2 models will have different styling and features to the existing V2 line-up but major underpinnings are likely to be shared between the two.

  1. Vida VX2 is a more family-centric product
  2. Likely to be offered with multiple battery capacities and variants
  3. Vida V2 pricing ranges from Rs 74,000-1.20 lakh

Vida VX2 models are likely to be more affordable than the V2 lineup

VX2 likely to be offered in different variants, much like V2

Earlier this month, one of the Vida VX2 models was spotted undisguised at a dealership, revealing some more details about Hero’s upcoming electric scooter. Unlike the angular and edgy V2 line-up, the Vida VX2’s design goes down a safer, more inoffensive route – something that will be appreciated by the target customer. Some other points of distinction to be made out between the upcoming VX2 and the current V2 are that the former has a smaller TFT display, a physical key slot, a different single-piece seat that appears to be flatter and different switchgear.

While the VX2’s design and features will be different to the V2, major internal components like the battery, motor, chassis and electronics are expected to be more or less the same on both Vida models. This is likely to be done to leverage existing componentry and production capabilities to achieve better economies of scale.

Currently, Hero’s Vida line-up starts at just Rs 74,000 for the V2 Lite with the 2.2kWh battery and goes up to Rs 1.20 lakh for the V2 Pro (ex-showroom, Delhi). These are the reduced prices, and it remains to be seen what strategy Hero adopts when it comes to the VX2’s launch, albeit it is a safe assumption that the company will aim for aggressively competitive pricing. Vida has slowly but steadily made inroads into the EV market, with sales numbers for Hero’s electric subsidiary growing month on month. With these more practical VX2 models, expect that momentum to continue.

July 1 is when these new Vidas will be launched and we expect to be riding them soon after, so keep an eye out for our coverage on these new electric scooters. Speaking of new electric scooters, you can read our review of Suzuki’s new e-Access HERE, which is slated to be launched soon.
