Hero MotoCorp has showcased its new and upgraded two-wheeler models for 2014, at its annual global marketing and sales conference, held in Macau recently. Hero will output 14 new 2014 models, including model upgrades and new variants, the first of which will shortly surface around the upcoming Indian festive season.
The star attraction is Hero’s new Splendor, called i-Smart. It’s a bike with a ‘V’ shape headlight in a bikini fairing, also home to revised instruments. The i-Smart shows off sharper styling, dual-tone body panels and a split grab bar for pillions. There are Hero typical 5-spoke alloy wheels, while the engine and exhaust are finished in black.
The i-Smart is set to use Hero’s successful Honda engine based workhorse, an engine displacing close to 100cc as previously used, now upgraded to include a start-stop system for better fuel efficiency.
Dealers attending this conference were also presented with an upgraded version of the Hero Pleasure automatic scooter, with linked brakes as already available on arch rival, the Honda Activa.
Hero’s 150cc X-treme motorcycle will see a minor upgrade, receiving an electronic engine immobiliser feature. At the event, Hero also spoke about its upcoming new Karizma, which we brought you spy photos of a few weeks ago.
The India launch of some of these upgraded two-wheelers is around the corner, not more than a few weeks away, and Hero are also slated to disclose new indigenously developed two-wheeler platforms later in 2014.
