Hero Glamour spotted with cruise control

An interesting spy shot has surfaced on the internet, showing the Hero Glamour with an LCD dash and switchgear that appears to have cruise control functionality. Here’s everything we can deduce.

  1. Hero Glamour to get new features and LCD dash
  2. New switch cube that could be borrowed from the Xpulse 210

The LCD unit seems to be borrowed from the Xtreme 250R

The spy shots showcase a test mule that appears to be the Hero Glamour, part of the brand’s commuter portfolio. The bike is wrapped in brown duct tape instead of the usual black-and-white camouflage.

For starters, it gets a colour LCD dash borrowed from the Xtreme 250R with a vertical rev counter. However, in line with its budget positioning, the display omits certain features like the oil temperature indicator.

The biggest highlight is the addition of cruise control – set to be a first for any Hero motorcycle. What’s interesting is that this feature is being tested on a commuter motorcycle rather than on one of Hero’s premium models like the Mavrick 440, Xpulse 210 or Xtreme 250R. If Hero manages to offer it at its current price point (Rs 95,098), or with only a slight hike, it could become the most affordable motorcycle with cruise control – a title currently held by the Apache RTR 310.

One point of interest will be whether this cruise control system uses ride-by-wire tech, which is the most common way to implement it. If so, it could significantly increase costs – something that may not sit well in the highly price-sensitive 125cc segment. The Hero Glamour is currently offered in two model variants: Standard and Xtec. Xtec variants are generally more feature-focused in Hero’s line-up, and we expect the cruise control functionality to be offered on this model. It remains to be seen when this updated Glamour will make it to showrooms.
