Harley-Davidson has announced a new initiative, project LiveWire, whereby the bike maker has invited public participation in the development of its first electric motorcycle.

H-D plans to follow its customer-led product development approach, starting next week, wherein select Harley owners in the US will get the opportunity to ride and provide feedback on the bike. Even those who don’t ride will get a chance to be a part of project LiveWire through Jumpstart, a riding simulator.

Long-term plans towards retailing the bike will be based on the feedback received from riders during the the Project Livewire Experience tour, which will start with a journey from Route 66 covering more than thirty Harley-Davidson dealerships till the end of the year. In 2015, the Project LiveWire experience will expand into Canada and Europe.
Enthusiasts can keep track of the project, its specific dates and locations for experience stops at projectlivewire.com.
