Less than a month after their international launch, the Ducati Desmo450 EDX and MX Factory have arrived in India, but the standard 2027 MX remains unavailable as yet. Although both motorcycles share a lot, the EDX is aimed at cross-country riding, with changes to the fuel tank capacity, chassis and tyres. The duo is now available for pre-bookings across the country.
- MX Factory gets small changes across the board for improved reliability
- EDX gets different fuel tank capacity, tyres and chassis setup for enduro riding
- Standard 2027 MX isn’t in India yet, but the 2026 model is available at Rs 17.24 lakh
2027 Ducati Desmo450 EDX and MX Factory: What has changed?
EDX for cross-country rides and MX Factory for serious racing
Ducati has made changes throughout the MX Factory in order to improve functionality, performance and ergonomics. The rear sprocket has been changed to a larger 51-tooth version from a 49-tooth one in order to improve the rear-wheel torque while exiting corners. The company has also upgraded numerous other components for improved reliability. Compared to the 2026 Desmo450 MX, the 2027 MX Factory version gets more equipment, while the kerb weight has dropped to 104kg without fuel. It also gets a dark Kashima coating and a titanium oxide treatment on its Showa suspension units for superior wear resistance, a full Akrapovic exhaust system, a sump guard, a disc rotor guard, an RK MXU chain with O-rings and a holeshot device, allowing the rider to manage acceleration and stability better during starts. For 2027, it gets a new Ducati Corse livery.

As for the Desmo450 EDX, it shares the improvements seen on the 2027 MX but is positioned towards enduro and cross-country riding. To facilitate that use case, Ducati has increased the fuel tank capacity to 8.5 litres (versus 7.2 on the MX) and equipped the bike with trail-focused Pirelli Scorpion XC mid-soft tyres. Even with the changes, Ducati has managed to keep the kerb weight at a feather-light 107.1kg. The chassis and the Showa suspension have also been tuned to absorb everything an enduro rider is likely to experience. To reinforce the motorcycle against the unpredictability of the environment, Ducati is offering handguards, a skid plate and a side stand as standard accessories on the EDX. The 450 EDX is available in a single Ducati Red colour.

Aside from the updates listed above, the core of the motorcycles remains unchanged. They stick to the 449.6 cc single-cylinder engine producing a maximum output of 63.5hp at 9,400rpm and 53.5Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. Typical for Ducati, both models also get a plethora of electronics, some of which are traction control, launch control, engine brake control, a bi-directional quickshifter and dedicated power and riding modes.
While the 2027 version of the standard Desmo450 MX hasn’t been launched in India, the 2026 version is still available at an unchanged Rs 17.24 lakh. As for the new launches, the EDX is available at Rs 18.55 lakh and the MX Factory at Rs 21.26 lakh.
