Ducati has announced the Globetrotter 90th round-the-world trip to celebrate its anniversary. Covering over 30,000km, seven finalists will undertake seven different legs of the trip across three continents on a Multistrada 1200 Enduro. The riders will be passing a specially designed torch, created by the Ducati Design Centre, from one to another.

The selection process for the finalists began in April with an online "casting" on the Ducati website, the only requirements for the riders being long-distance travel experience, editorial and photographic aptitude, and fluency in English. The final seven riders, all from different countries, were shortlisted from a total of 3,000 applicants.

Indian rider Vir Nikai will kick-start the trip on July 4, 2016, from the Ducati factory in Bologna, Italy. “I am totally shocked and excited because I would have never imagined I would get so far. The selection round was an amazing experience and it’s going to get even better. The final decision for Ducati would have been very tough considering that the 13 other Globetrotter finalists from all over the world are such a brilliant bunch of people. I can’t wait to ride.” said Nikai.

Enlisted are the seven stages of the tour and their respective riders.
1. Bologna–Moscow |  Rider: Vir Nakai, India
2. The Trans-Siberian route | Rider: Steve Fraser, Australia
3. Japan | Rider: Jessica Leyne – Belgium
4. San Francisco–Indianapolis | Rider: Eduardo Generali, Brazil
5. Indianapolis–Lisbon | Rider: Samuel Bendall, USA
6. Lisbon–Isle Of Man | Rider: Hugo Wilson, UK
7. The Isle Of Man–Bologna | Rider: Timo Schäfer, Germany
