BMW brings back the S 1000 XR for 2024 and it now costs Rs 40,000 more than the model it replaces.

BMW S 1000 XR price, launch details

BMW has launched the all-new S 1000 XR to replace the model launched in 2020. The S 1000 XR’s design, performance and features have been updated, and this motorcycle will be imported as a completely built unit. 

  1. S 1000 XR now costs Rs 40,000 more
  2. Comes with Touring and Dynamics packages as standard
  3. Produces 5hp more than before

BMW S 1000 XR price, launch details

The S 1000 XR shares its motor with the iconic S 1000 RR. BMW claims that it has reworked the in-line 4-cylinder unit, which now produces 170hp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm at 9,250rpm — 5hp more than the outgoing model’s engine.

The German manufacturer has also claimed that the S 1000 XR can reach 0-100kph in 3.25 seconds and achieve a top speed of 253kph. In terms of design, BMW has replaced the black beak fender with one that’s body-coloured. The rear section features new side panels and air intakes that, according to BMW, take inspiration from motorsport.

The seat has been completely redesigned to make the bike better suited for track riding and touring; it is 850mm high now and can be lowered.

The new S 1000 XR can be had with additional equipment, depending on the package chosen (Touring, Dynamics, or M). It is worth mentioning that the Touring and Dynamics packages are standard. The Touring package includes a luggage carrier, a centre stand, a slot for the navigation device, hand protection, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and heated grips. The Dynamics package offers dynamic ESA pro, shift assistant pro and cruise control.

The M package comprises the M Sport seat for optimum support, M Endurance chain, M GPS-Laptrigger, sports silencer, tinted windscreen, a black fuel filler cap, M lightweight battery, M forged wheels, or optionally, M Carbon wheels. The M package is the only package with the M Sport-themed white colour. It is also worth mentioning that this package will cost Rs 2.50 lakh over the standard price. 

The all-new S 1000 XR is priced at Rs 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom India), which is Rs 40,000 more than the model it replaces. The BMW S 1000 XR will rival the likes of theDucati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peakand theDucati Multistrada V4 RS,which is yet to launch in India.
