With a couple of days remaining for the launch of the BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS, both bikes have been spotted in India. The BMW G 310 duo will make their India debut on July 18. At this point, everything about these bikes is already public knowledge – aside from the price. While BMW Motorrad hasn’t divulged pricing details, a few dealers have quoted price tags of Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 4 lakh (on-road) for the G 310 R and the G 310 GS, respectively.
Both BMW motorcycles have been developed and designed by the German brand, but are manufactured by TVS Motors at its Hosur plant. The G 310 bikes are also the only BMW motorcycles built in India – and the most affordable offering in the German brand's global portfolio. Despite being manufactured here, it has been rather long wait for Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts. The India launch has been delayed because BMW Motorrad wanted to expand the dealership network prior to the bike going on sale.
The G 310 R and G 310 GS come with a reversed-cylinder design that slopes towards the rear wheel, much like the TVS Apache RR 310. Both bikes share the same 313cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder unit, which produces 34hp and 28Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and both the motorcycles come with dual-channel ABS as standard. You can read more details about the bikes here.
