Ampere, Okinawa cut prices due to reduced GST rate

    The reduction in GST on EVs, from the prevailing rate of 12 percent to 5 percent, has brought about a drop in price of models from the electric two-wheeler brands.

    The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council recently announced a reduction in GST on electric vehicles, from the prevailing rate of 12 percent to 5 percent. As a result, prices of EVs from Ather, Ampere and Okinawa have gone down. To know more about Ather’s price cut, head here. Following are the reduced prices for the Ampere and Okinawa range.

    Ampere

    The government’s revision of the GST rate for EVs sees Ampere’s flagship e-scooter, the Zeal, now available for approximately Rs 67,000 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), which is a significant reduction of around Rs 5,000. The company’s other models, however, have witnessed a smaller reduction in price – closer to Rs 3,000.

    Okinawa

    Okinawa Scooters, meanwhile, has announced that the prices of its lead-acid battery powered two-wheelers has now reduced by Rs 2,500-4,700 and models powered by Li-ion batteries see a reduction of Rs 3,400-8,600, following the government’s move to slash the GST rate. The company has not yet released the updated price list for its models.
