Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) has added a fifth scooter to its portfolio here with the launch of the Activa 125. This 125cc Activa faces stiff competition from the Suzuki Access and the Mahindra Rodeo RZ.

Take a quick glance at the spec sheet and you will realise that the Honda Activa 125 has the largest engine of the three scooters, but only marginally. Nevertheless, the Activa produces the most power, a decent 8.48bhp at 6500 rpm, the Access produces a peak power of 8.46bhp at 7000 rpm while the Rodeo makes 7.93bhp at 7000 rpm. The Activa outdoes the competition when it comes to torque as well. It produces 1.03kgm at 5500 rpm, higher than the Access’s 0.99kgm at 5000 rpm and the Rodeo’s 0.91kgm at 5000 rpm. All three scooters use a CVT gearbox to transfer power to the rear wheel.

The Activa is also the longest, widest and tallest among the three. At 1260mm, the Honda Activa's wheelbase is 10mm longer the Suzuki Access and 15mm longer that the Mahindra Rodeo. Honda is offering front disc brakes on the Activa, while on the Suzuki and the Mahindra, drum brakes do duty. The disc brake variant of the Activa comes with alloy wheels for additional style.

When it comes to price, the Activa is the most expensive of the lot, with the base model priced at Rs 56,607. The Access costs Rs 56,498 and the Rodeo is priced significantly lower at Rs 43,243.

Honda Activa 125 launched at Rs 56,607

The new Honda Activa 125 comes with a 124.9 cc engine. Two variants are on offer.
