The Bajaj Pulsar has achieved yet another feat, that of crossing 5 million sales mark since its launch in November 2001. Pulsar is the first brand in its segment to achieve the milestone.

The brand which saw the light of the day with two engine capacities – 150cc and 180cc – is now available with four powerplants ranging from 135cc to 220cc. As per Bajaj Auto’s claims, the brand enjoys a 44 percent share of the premium bike segment.

Bajaj credits its progress in design and engineering to the continued success of the Pulsar family. The Pulsars not only led the competition when it came to features like gas-charged suspension (Nitrox in Bajaj lingo), alloy wheels, LED tail-lamps and digital gauges but also served as the launchpad for Bajaj’s indigenous efficiency-enhancing Digital Twin Spark Ignition technology (DTS-i). The next generation Pulsars due later this year are set to feature triple spark ignition apart from liquid cooling marking a major technological leap for Indian bikes.

Commenting on the occasion, K Srinivas, president – motorcycle business, said; “Not many brands in the Indian automobile space have crossed the 5 million mark. This holds true even for mass-motorcycles. The Pulsar motorcycles have been a testimony to Bajaj Auto’s engineering prowess. We have unveiled the next generation Pulsar 200 NS, early this year and are positive that it will take the market by storm.”
