While bookings for the 2019 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R commenced back in October 2018, the bike maker revealed its prices today. The locally assembled, middleweight supersport has an introductory price of Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Kawasaki has said that one can expect a significant increase in the price after the introductory period ends.

The new Ninja ZX-6R made its international debut last year and got a redesign along with updated electronics. Kawasaki’s new design language that is also seen on the Ninja 400 can be found on this bike. It features a sharp front end with a full LED headlight. The sides have also been redesigned and updated graphics help distinguish it from the older-generation 6R. The aggressive styling can be seen at the rear as well. As for the instrumentation, it continues to remain a semi-digital unit.

The ZX-6R is powered by a 636cc, inline-four-cylinder engine that makes 130hp and 70.8Nm. The supersport motorcycle uses a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

As for the electronics, the new Ninja has been equipped with Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC), two power modes, ABS and Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) (upshift only). The bike weighs 196kg and has a seat height of 830mm. Like the ZX-10R, this bike will be available as a single-seater motorcycle. The ZX-6R is available only in the KRT edition colour scheme in India.

While there’s no direct rival to the 6R, the Triumph Street Triple RS comes close in terms of pricing and performance. Ducati’s 959 Panigale is similar in intent but is closer to a litre-class motorcycle when it comes to engine capacity and pricing.

Customers were allowed to pre-book the 2019 ZX-6R for Rs 1.5 lakh until November 30, 2018. Customers who pre-booked the bike will start getting deliveries from February 2019 onwards. For new booking and delivery related information, Kawasaki has asked customers to visit their nearest showrooms.
