Introduced only a couple of years ago, the family-focused Rizta now accounts for over three-fourths of Ather’s e-scooter volumes. The company has dispatched more than 3 lakh units of the Rizta since launching it on April 6, 2024. This e-scooter has played a key role in the Bengaluru-based player emerging as India’s third-largest electric two-wheeler OEM behind TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto.
- Ather dispatched 1 lakh units of the Rizta in just 10 months since its launch
- Around 1 lakh units of the Rizta were sold in the last six months alone
- Ather is also developing a new EL platform for its future electric scooters
Rizta now accounts for 76 percent of Ather sales
Family-focused scooter helped Ather expand beyond premium buyers
Estimated cumulative Rizta wholesales from FY2025 through April 2026 stand at 3,09,501 units. Deliveries of the scooter had begun in July 2024, with the first 1 lakh units dispatched in a little over 10 months. The 2 lakh-unit milestone came in October 2025, while the latest 3 lakh mark was achieved by the end of April 2026.
The Rizta’s contribution to Ather’s overall e-scooter volumes has grown sharply in the past year. In FY2025, the scooter accounted for 58 percent of Ather’s total dispatches (89,639 out of 1,55,405 units sold overall).
That share rose to 76 percent in FY2026, as Rizta’s sales grew 121 percent year on year, helping Ather post a record annual volume of 2,60,070 electric scooters. In April 2026, the first month of FY2027, 77 percent of Ather’s dispatches are estimated to have come from the Rizta.
The scooter also played a major role in Ather’s quarter-on-quarter growth through FY2026. The company’s best quarter was Q4 FY2026, when it dispatched 82,929 scooters, of which the Rizta alone contributed 64,159 units.
Ather’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model has also improved affordability. The Rizta S, which is priced at Rs 1.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru) with the battery included, can be bought at a lower upfront cost of Rs 76,000 under the BaaS scheme.
The Rizta’s success has also coincided with Ather’s broader expansion plans. The company is developing a new EL platform for future electric scooters across the commuter, family and performance segments while also working on a separate Zenith platform for electric motorcycles aimed at the 125-300cc class.
Ather is additionally set to significantly ramp up manufacturing capacity. Alongside its existing Hosur facilities in Tamil Nadu, the company is building a new plant at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) with an annual capacity of one million units. Once it is operational, Ather’s total production capacity is expected to rise to 1.42 million units annually.
