I currently ride a Mahindra Mojo and want to upgrade to an adventure bike with a higher displacement. It should be comfortable, stable, and handling and braking must be very confident as well. The major priority is pillion comfort. I am considering between the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, BMW F 750 GS, Suzuki V-Strom 650 XT, Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Ducati Multistrada 950.                             Somiya Chakravorty, via email

AAA That’s a nice and comprehensive list you have there. We haven’t ridden the BMW yet, so we’ll reserve our judgement for now, but the Motorrad dealership network is the smallest of this lot. With that out of the way, we’ll move to the Versys and the V-Strom. The Versys is the better option as a pure road bike. It has better suspension than the V-Strom, but it isn’t as large and spacious as the Suzuki. If you plan to do some mild off-roading as well, you’ll like what the Suzuki has to offer. The Suzuki is also the more feature-packed of the two, and the fact that it offers traction control and tubeless tyres on spoked rims is a big plus point.

Moving onto the proper big bikes, the Tiger and Ducati each offer a particular experience. The Triumph
is the more comfy option and is nicer off road as well. The Ducati, meanwhile, has much better road manners and is a great handler, to the point that you could almost call it sporty. But if you want to cover long distances over all kinds of roads in complete ease and comfort, the Tiger is the one to have. If the Tiger’s size and cost aren’t a factor for you, this is the bike we’d recommend.

The 300 SEF-R enduro bike made for a relatively friendly introduction to riding in the dunes.

A rally navigation tower is seriously complicated and I cannot fathom how the riders monitor/control it while riding flat out all day long.
