I am looking for an automatic car for easy city commutes and occasional highway drives. My monthly usage is less than 2,000km. VW’s Polo GT TSI has been my dream car but I wasn’t able to afford it, until now that is. Is it too late to buy the car in 2019? Do we have better options? According to a few car portals, the facelift is just round the corner. Alternatively, a VW sales person suggested I go for the Ameo diesel-automatic as the waiting period for the Polo is three months and the price difference between them is only around Rs 50,000-80,000.

AAA - We are delighted that you can afford to buy the VW Polo GT TSI; it certainly stands out from other hatchbacks in terms of quality, refinement and, above all, performance. Our advice is to not think twice and go for it for several reasons. Firstly, no other hatchback will give you as much driving pleasure and, secondly, VW will be discontinuing the 1.2 turbo-petrol engine later this year and replacing it with a 1.0 -litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that won’t have the character of the 1.2. Don’t listen to your dealer as they are usually incentivised to sell a particular model to meet sales targets.
