Will Jeep bring the Renegade, which is its smallest SUV, to India?

Manisha Javed, New Delhi

Autocar India says: The current Renegade that is on sale abroad will not be coming to India due to high import and localisation costs. Also, there won’t be much of a market for it since its pricing would almost overlap with the larger Compass SUV.

However, we recently reported that Jeep is working on a Creta-rival, that’ll be underpinned by Citroen C3 Aircross’ CMP platform. It may not carry the Renegade moniker but it’ll be quite affordable and is expected to come with a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two-wheel drive and a 4x4 EV.
