The Ather 450 Apex is the most evolved and advanced version of the 450X platform, showcasing how far Ather has pushed its technology. With the 2025 update bringing new features, it's positioned as a premium offering for enthusiasts. If you're considering the 450 Apex, here's what works in its favour and what might give you pause.

Reasons to buy the Ather 450 Apex

Exciting performance

The Ather 450 Apex gets an exclusive Warp+ mode delivering quicker torque response and a sharper top end. In our performance tests, we achieved 0-40kph in just 2.9 seconds, with 80kph coming in 11.59 seconds – almost 5 seconds quicker than the 450X Gen3. The power delivery is instant yet smooth, feeling eager even at higher speeds when you want to overtake. What's impressive is how linear and predictable the throttle feels despite the quick acceleration, with excellent accelerator calibration that ensures no jerkiness. Additionally, the scooter also gets a lot of features including Skid Control, which is the brands version of traction control.

Makes city commutes effortless

As part of the Ather Stack 7.0 update, the Apex gets Infinite Cruise – Ather’s take on cruise control. The system is designed specifically for real-world Indian traffic rather than highway use, and offers three functionalities via just one button. City Cruise holds a steady pace in traffic, automatically pausing when you brake and resuming at the new speed you achieve once you twist the accelerator again. Hill Control maintains consistent speed on inclines and descents using regenerative braking, while Crawl Control lets you cruise as slow as 10kph. The system works remarkably well, as you don't have to keep resuming at a previously set speed – instead, it locks onto the particular speed you achieve once you hold the accelerator steady for a second or two.

Distinctive styling

The Apex retains the compact, sharp silhouette of the 450X but gets distinct elements that set it apart. The orange wheels and transparent side panels are especially neat touches, with the latter revealing the bright orange trellis frame underneath, giving the scooter a technical, concept-like vibe. This year also marks 10 years of the Ather brand, so the scooter sports 10-year anniversary stickers, making it a special edition. The Indium Blue paint scheme is a head-turner and gives it a unique and premium look and feel that stands out in a crowd.

Reasons to skip the Ather 450 Apex

Lacks ABS

Despite being a premium, performance-focused scooter, the 450 Apex misses out on ABS. Under hard braking, the rear wheel locks up easily, increasing the stopping distance. For a scooter that can hit 100kph and is positioned as the fastest in Ather's lineup, the absence of ABS is a miss.

Premium pricing

At Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the Ather 450 Apex is an expensive offering that's out of reach for many buyers. While you get bragging rights as the owner of Ather's fastest scooter with cutting-edge features, it won't be considered practical for the average Indian consumer. The significant price premium over the already capable 450X makes it a purchase driven more by enthusiasm than practicality, limiting its appeal to a niche audience willing to pay top dollar for the ultimate Ather experience.
