The Citroen eC3X and Tata Tiago EV are affordable electric offerings from their respective brands. Both models were updated in 2026, receiving feature additions and changes to their range figures. They are also now available with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, which significantly lowers their initial purchase cost. So, how do these two EVs compare on paper? We take a closer look.
Citroen eC3X vs Tata Tiago EV: Battery, range and motor specs
| eC3X | Tiago EV | |
Battery (kWh) | 29.2 | 19.2 | 24 |
Power (hp) | 57 | 61 | 75 |
Torque (Nm) | 143 | 110 | 114 |

Claimed range (km) | 325 | 226 | 285 |
| 10-100 percent 3.3kW AC charging (hrs) | 10.5 | 6.9 | 8.7 |
| 10-100 percent 7.2kW AC charging (hrs) | NA | 2.6 | 3.5 |
| 10-80 percent DC charging (mins) | 57 (charger speed not specified) | 35 (with 30kW charger) |
The eC3X and Tiago EV both use a front-wheel-drive layout, but they take different approaches to battery size, performance and charging. The eC3X is offered only with a 29.2kWh battery pack, which is bigger than both battery options available on the electric Tiago: 19.2kWh and 24kWh. With a claimed range of 325km, it has a 40km advantage over the Tiago’s larger battery pack and 99km over the smaller one.
But when it comes to peak power output, the Tiago EV has the upper hand. It makes 61hp with 19.2kWh battery and 75hp with 24kWh unit, compared to the eC3X’s 57hp. The Citroen EV claws back ground by generating a lot more torque at 143Nm.
In terms of charging, the Tata EV is faster. Using a 3.3kW AC charger, the 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery packs take 6.9 hours and 8.7 hours, respectively, to charge from 10 to 100 percent, while the eC3X takes 10.5 hours. The Tiago EV further extends its advantage by offering a 7.2kW AC charger option, which reduces the charging time to 2.6 hours for the 19.2kWh version and 3.5 hours for the 24kWh version. The eC3X does not offer a 7.2kW AC charger.
As for DC fast charging, the Tiago EV can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 35 minutes using a 30kW charger. The eC3X takes 57 minutes for the same, although the charger output has not been specified.
Citroen eC3X vs Tata Tiago EV: Dimensions

The Citroen eC3X is the larger of the two in every dimension. It is 156mm longer, 49mm wider and 24mm taller than the Tata Tiago EV. Another area where the Citroen EV has an upper hand is its wheelbase, which is 140mm longer. Despite being the larger car here, in our experience with the electric C3 (the pre-update version), its rear seat offers adequate space just for two adults.
Even in boot space, the eC3X holds a clear lead, offering 75 litres more than the Tiago EV. The Citroen’s wheel size is also an inch larger.

The eC3X has an advantage in a few areas. It gets a wireless charger, which the Tiago EV doesn’t; interestingly, the Tiago petrol offers one. The Citroen even offers more charging options, with two Type-C ports and one Type-A port, but the Tiago EV’s single Type-C port at the front supports faster 65W charging.
Also, the Tiago EV counters with automatic climate control, a cooled glove box, rear AC vents and a front armrest with storage, all of which are missing on the eC3X. Plus, it comes with a 6-speaker audio system as standard, whereas the eC3X gets four speakers, with a 6-speaker setup available as an option. Neither of these EVs offers adjustable headrests.

The Tiago EV also offers several features not available on the eC3X, such as a 360-degree camera, a blind-spot monitor, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and rain-sensing wipers. The Citroen counters with just an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (IRVM), whereas the Tiago EV gets a manual unit.
Citroen eC3X vs Tata Tiago EV: Prices and verdict
| eC3X | Tiago EV | |
| Standard price | Rs 11.99 lakh-13.26 lakh | Rs 6.99 lakh-9.99 lakh |
| BaaS price | Rs 6.89 lakh-8.30 lakh + Rs 2.26/km | Rs 4.69 lakh + 2.6/km* |
*Base-spec Tiago EV’s BaaS price.
Compared to the Citroen eC3X, the Tata Tiago EV is significantly more affordable, undercutting it by Rs 5 lakh at the entry level and by Rs 3.27 lakh at the top end. While the battery-as-a-service (BaaS) model considerably reduces the eC3X’s upfront cost, it remains more expensive than the Tiago EV.
As our comparison shows, both EVs have their strengths. The eC3X offers the longer claimed range, which remains an important consideration for EV buyers. However, when compared with the Tiago EV’s larger 24kWh battery pack, the advantage narrows to just 40km.
The Tiago EV, meanwhile, stands out in several other areas. It offers quicker charging times, a more comprehensive safety package and a lower purchase price. It also scored a 4-star rating in Global NCAP crash tests in its previous form, while the outgoing eC3 received a 0-star rating.
Considering the significant price difference and the Tiago EV's strengths in charging, safety and pricing, it emerges as the stronger overall choice.
