The Hero Splendor is India's and, by extension, arguably the world's best-selling motorcycle. The Splendor+ sits at the entry point of the Splendor range and is built around a simple, proven 97.2cc engine built for efficiency and reliability. Over the last three decades, the motorcycle has evolved to meet stricter emission norms and changing regulations, but the fundamental formula has remained largely unchanged. Here are answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about the Hero Splendor+.
What is the price of the Hero Splendor+?
The Hero Splendor+ is available in four variants with prices starting at Rs 77,557 and go up to Rs 80,331 for the ‘125 Million Edition’. Hero also recently introduced a Flex Fuel variant of the Splendor+, priced at Rs 82,710, which can run on ethanol blends ranging from E20 to E85. For now, that bike will only be available in Delhi and select regions of Maharashtra, with a nationwide rollout to follow.
What engine does the Hero Splendor+ use?
The Hero Splendor+ is powered by a 97.2cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 8hp and 8Nm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. The engine has been tuned for fuel efficiency and low running costs, and Hero claims a fuel economy figure of 70kpl when running on E20 fuel.
The recently introduced Splendor+ Flex Fuel uses the same engine but has been adapted to run on ethanol blends of up to E85, thanks to a revised ECU calibration, an upgraded fuel pump and a secondary fuel filter designed to handle the higher ethanol content. In this configuration, it produces 8.6hp and 8.3Nm.
What features does the Hero Splendor+ have?
The Splendor+ is one of the most bare-bones motorcycles you can buy today. In a segment where affordability is paramount, Hero has kept the feature list simple to keep costs in check. The motorcycle gets a twin-pod analogue instrument cluster, tubeless tyres, and a side-stand engine cut-off function as standard. Variants above the base drum-brake model also get Hero's i3S idle stop-start system.
Which bikes rival the Hero Splendor+?
The Splendor+ operates in India's most competitive motorcycle segment. Its closest rivals are the Honda Shine 100, priced at Rs 65,393, and the Bajaj Platina 100, priced at Rs 68,711 – both of which undercut it on price by a fair margin.
What colours is the Hero Splendor+ available in?
The Hero Splendor+ is available in multiple colour options depending on the variant. The base variant and the ‘i3S’ above it are offered in five dual-tone colour schemes. The Special Edition, meanwhile, gets three exclusive colour options along with unique graphics and badging, including a prominent '01' graphic on the side panel. The 125 Million Edition, which is available in a single grey colour scheme, features gold pinstriping on the wheels and special graphics on the fuel tank and side panels.
