My requirements are primarily city usage with monthly long drives, good safety, a spacious rear seat, reasonable boot space, a smooth ride, and good after-sales service support in the Pune region. Currently, I own a Honda City V CVT. For me, this is the best car. I have driven around 16,000 km in last 2 years. However, now my running has increased to 200 km per day. I find EV more suitable for future. Kindly recommend me a good reliable EV or should I go for a diesel or strong hybrid?

With 200km a day, an EV only makes sense if you have reliable home charging and your usage is mostly predictable. Then too, such high usage will require frequent charging, which in turn will take a toll on battery health sooner, and this affects performance, range and resale value. A diesel or strong hybrid is the more practical choice for your usage - the diesel being better suited to greater highway use, and the hybrid to greater city use. The Kia Seltos diesel automatic is the best all-rounder. It is refined, efficient and will handle your daily mileage with ease. A strong hybrid like the Maruti Suzuki Victoris Hybrid is worth considering if your driving is a mix of city and highway, but at 200km a day, the diesel will still be more cost-effective. The Honda City Hybrid is a good car, but it is not as efficient on the highway as a diesel.

I need help choosing between the Victoris LXI MT and Brezza ZXI MT (1.5-litre petrol). I would appreciate some suggestions. We had decided to get the Brezza ZXI MT with the 1.5-litre petrol engine. The dealer quoted an on-road price of Rs. 13,32,491. When we asked for a discount, they offered us the Victoris LXI MT instead. The price quoted for the Victoris after the discount is Rs. 13,00,000 on-road, along with a free Rs. 6,000 reverse parking camera and Rs. 40,000 worth of diamond-cut alloy wheels. Now I am a bit confused about which one to get. The car is for my dad, who drives around 50 km daily. We currently have a 2014 Hyundai Grand i10.

The Victoris and Brezza are based on the same platform and share several bits, including their 1.5 petrol powertrain. The Brezza is sub-4-meters in length, whereas the Victoris is a bit longer. The Victoris has a more appealing two-tone interior, and even in LXI guise, it covers the basics well. If you're getting the Victoris at a lower price than the Brezza, it is certainly something that you must seriously consider.Alternatively, you could consider the Brezza turbo version, which is more affordable than the 1.5 version, with more performance while the controls are still light and easy. The ZXI turbo will increase the price gap with the Victoris and is better value. However, if the turbo isn't something that you want, then the Victoris is the one to go for.

With 1,800- 2,000 km of monthly running, CNG cars make more financial sense than a petrol car or diesel option, especially with 50 percent of the usage being in the city. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG would be the recommendation as it combines good fuel efficiency with a comfortable cabin, sufficient space for a 6ft driver and Maruti’s wide service network, making it well suited to long term ownership.The CNG system is also factory fitted, so there is no need to compromise on reliability by adding an aftermarket kit. Its naturally aspirated engine is not particularly powerful, but for regular commuting and highway speeds it is adequate. The large CNG tank does reduce boot space, which is the main compromise.A diesel car could make sense at this running, particularly for frequent highway use, but the additional cost and complexity of a modern diesel make CNG more attractive when half the driving is in town. The running cost saving over 18,000- 24,000 km a year will also be significant.

Go for the Toyota Innova Hycross strong hybrid. With your daily running of 15-20 km and occasional 60-70 km trips, a diesel does not make financial sense, and the hybrid will give you significantly better fuel efficiency in city driving than petrol. The Hycross is also the more comfortable and spacious 7-seater, with a proven Toyota ownership experience and lower long-term maintenance costs. The XUV 7XO is the better driver's car, offers more features and has a more premium cabin, but for your usage pattern, the Hycross strong hybrid is the more sensible and hassle-free choice.

Help me choose the right car for my usage. Please be practical and challenge my assumptions. My situation: I am 31 and work as a software developer. I currently work from home in Balsane, Dhule, but I am moving to Mumbai around March. My wife and I are expecting a baby in February. My parents live in a village where local transport is poor. My Mumbai office is near Powai, but parking is difficult. I prefer a manual car. Usage: My current running is around 10,000 km per year, but it may increase. I travel between Mumbai and Balsane, which is around 400 km one way, around 5-7 times a year, along with Dhule/Sakri and local trips. I also drive around Mumbai on weekends. The AC is usually on, and on long trips, the car will have my wife, baby, and luggage. Budget: Rs. 6-9 lakh on-road. I am willing to spend more only if it is genuinely worth it. Shortlist: - Tiago XE Petrol - Punch Pure+/Smart Petrol - Punch Pure+/Smart CNG - Brezza LXi turbo-petrol Please tell me: 1. Which one should I buy and why? 2. Petrol vs CNG for my usage? The CNG premium is around Rs. 1 lakh, and the nearby village pump may open around Diwali, but this is not guaranteed. 3. What real-world mileage can I expect with the AC on? 4. Please consider loan interest, fuel costs, maintenance, depreciation, and resale value. 5. Is the Brezza worth the extra money? 6. Give me one final choice and tell me what I should avoid.

The Brezza LXI Turbo is far superior to the Punch and Tiago as far as smoothness, performance, and cabin space are concerned. It is also backed by Maruti's widespread support network, and the ownership experience is likely to be fuss-free. The on-road cost of the Brezza LXI will fall within your Rs 9 lakh budget, and even though you might miss a few features, it still feels worth opting for. Alternatively, you could also consider the Maruti Dzire VXI MT for its large boot, comfy ride and strong fuel efficiency.
