Hi everyone, I'm planning to buy my first EV. I was initially considering the Tata Punch EV, but I'm 6'4" tall, and I found the driver's seat and overall driving position a bit cramped for longer drives. I'm open to stretching my budget a little if it means getting a more comfortable car. My requirements are: comfortable for a 6'4" driver, real-world driving range of around 350 km, good value for money, suitable for both city driving and occasional highway trips. What would you recommend? I'd also love to hear from tall owners about their experience with cabin space and driving comfort. Thanks in advance!

The Tata Punch EV is a great value proposition, but at 6'4", you are already experiencing its biggest limitation: cabin space. The driving position in this Tata car is upright, and the seat does not go low enough, which can become uncomfortable on longer drives. Since you are willing to stretch your budget, the MG Windsor EV is the better fit. It offers a significantly more spacious cabin, a wider and more comfortable seat, and a more relaxed driving position. Range is one aspect where this MG car doesn't really hit the 350km mark. Around 300km is what you can expect in normal driving conditions. Highway trips will have to be planned well. The screen inside dominates the dashboard. It is a more premium product than the Punch EV, but the extra spend is justified by the comfort and space.

The other option is the new Kia Syros EV. It might seem compact, but the interior is surprisingly spacious, even for tall adults. The battery is a 51.4kWh unit from the bigger Clavis EV, so 400km in one charge should be possible. The rear seat space is also excellent, and the quality of the cabin, along with the usability of day-to-day functions, makes it a very strong contender.

The Windsor is a genuinely spacious electric car with a wide rear bench, good legroom and a comfortable ride, which is exactly what you want for a chauffeur-driven city car. It also sits at around Rs 15 lakh on-road in Bangalore, making it one of the few EVs in this price range that genuinely feels like a step up in rear-seat comfort and space.The Tata Nexon EV is the obvious alternative, but it is a smaller car with a narrower rear bench and less overall space, so it does not feel as comfortable for regular chauffeur-driven use. The Windsor's ride comfort isn't as good as the Nexon EV's, and neither is the refinement, with a lot of road noise filtering into the cabin.The Windsor is not the most premium EV in the segment, but it is the most practical and comfortable choice for your use case. It is also backed by MG's growing service network and has a decent ownership track record. If you want a more premium experience, you would have to stretch your budget significantly, and at that point the value proposition starts to weaken.Overall, the Windsor is the most sensible and comfortable choice for a chauffeur-driven city EV at this price point.

Hi, I am looking to change my 2020 Kia Sonet top-end diesel automatic. It has covered around 33,000km and has been a great car, but I want to change it now. I am considering an EV and have shortlisted the MG ZS EV Excite Pro. I am a senior citizen, with minimal usage of around three local errand trips a week and an annual running of around 4,000-5,000 km, including a couple of outstation trips. Please advise.

I am new to driving and am looking for a sub-4-metre petrol SUV with a torque converter automatic gearbox. My budget is around Rs 12-13 lakh on-road. I have shortlisted two options: the Skoda Kylaq Signature automatic and the Mahindra XUV 3XO MX2 Pro automatic. We are a family of five. My current usage is mostly within the city, but based on my future work requirements, it could shift to an 80:20 mix of city and highway driving.

Which car should I buy among Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Petrol base or Kia Seltos petrol base? And also tell me if anyone has faced power issue or pickup issue while overtaking as I want the car for long term.

Between the two, the Seltos is the better choice, especially if you are looking at the base variant. It feels more premium, is the newer product and offers a more complete package even in its lower variants.The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol makes 115hp and 144Nm. It isn't a particularly powerful engine, but it is smooth and refined and is perfectly adequate for normal city driving.For overtaking, it won't have the punch of the Seltos turbo, but it isn't underpowered either. With a full load and during quick highway overtakes, you may need to plan ahead and use higher revs. The Grand Vitara's 1.5 petrol is also a smooth, simple powertrain, but its performance is more relaxed and the base variant is quite sparsely equipped.
