I am planning to buy a car under 12 lakh for the village's rugged road and highway. Which suitable and comfortable car should I buy?

Opt for the Mahindra Bolero Neo if your roads are really rough; otherwise, pick the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. That is the simplest way to decide based on your usage.
If your village roads are very broken, uneven or kaccha, the Bolero Neo is the better fit. It is built tougher, has a more rugged suspension setup and the height and durability you are looking for, so it will handle bad roads without feeling stressed.
If your roads are mixed but you still want comfort and daily usability, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza is the smarter choice. It offers good ground clearance, a comfortable ride and is much easier to drive on highways and in regular use, while also being simple and reliable to own. The engine is smooth and refined, which makes everyday driving far more relaxed.

I am looking to buy a budget 7-seater car and really like the Mahindra Bolero Neo for its looks, mileage, and performance. However, I am concerned about potential DPF issues since my monthly running is only around 500 km, mostly in city conditions. Alternatively, I am considering whether I should opt for a 5-seater SUV like the Skoda Kushaq or Tata Nexon. My family size is six members (5 adults and 1 child), although we will only occasionally travel with all six occupants.

Mostly city use, only about 500km a month, and a family of six that sometimes travels together consider the Kia Carens Premium (O) petrol manual. It is compact enough to be usable in Pune city, and the petrol engine avoids DPF-related issues. The cabin is much more modern, the seats are comfortable, and even the third row is spacious enough for adults. Not to mention, it is a lot easier to get into than the side-facing seats on the Bolero. With your limited usage, a diesel doesn’t make much sense, and while the Mahindra Bolero Neo will feel tough on broken rural roads, in Pune, the Carens will be the more comfortable, practical and safer family car. It is slightly pricier than the Bolero Neo, and if it's too much of a stretch, then consider the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.Take a test drive with the family, get into the third row, and see if it feels comfortable.

Hi Autocar, my parents have had a Grand i10 since 2017 and are now looking for an upgrade. My father is comfortable with its lower ride height and smaller body as they reside in Delhi. Now the requirements are: a hybrid car, 15 lakh budget, automatic transmission, and maximum safety features with ease of navigation in Delhi traffic. Your advice, please. I have shortlisted the Grand Vitara hybrid and Brezza. Open to all suggestions, but only companies like Maruti, Hyundai, etc., whose service facilities are easily available and spares are also economical.

Just to clarify, in your Rs 15 lakh budget, a strong hybrid or plug-in hybrid option won't be available, and you would have to opt for versions with a mild hybrid system, with an integrated starter generator (ISG), a secondary lithium-ion battery and engine stop-start function, which are also beneficial for fuel savings and emissions, though not to the extent of a strong hybrid. That being said, go for the Maruti Suzuki Brezza ZXi+ AT. For Delhi traffic, it fits your parents best. It's compact like the Grand i10 but gives a higher seat for better view, light steering for tight streets, and a smooth 6‑speed automatic that takes the stress out of stop-start traffic. The mild-hybrid system of this Maruti car helps the engine switch off at long signals and start again quietly, which keeps the drive calm. We'd advise you to move up to the ZXi+ for the full set of features, though it is slightly outside your budget. You could also consider the Maruti Suzuki Fronx 1.0 Turbo Petrol Alpha AT. It comes with a mild-hybrid setup, is slightly more affordable, and offers a punchier engine, though it isn’t as spacious as the Brezza. As for the Grand Vitara, for your budget, you simply don't get a high enough variant, nor do you get as much seating space in the back as you do in the Brezza. Overall, for your budget and easy service with low running costs, the Brezza ZXi+ AT is a simple, stress-free upgrade.

Hi, I already own a Hyundai Creta IVT and am now looking to buy another car for my wife, primarily for city driving in Pune. The Creta feels a bit large for her to manoeuvre on narrow city roads and in traffic, so I am looking for a more compact option. My key requirements are: Automatic transmission (mandatory) Compact size and easy to drive Low budget (do not want to spend much) Petrol only (cannot consider EV due to lack of charging space) I have ruled out Tata due to reliability concerns. I also had a previous Hyundai Grand i10, which had AC issues, so I am hesitant about that as well. The Mahindra XUV 3XO automatic looks appealing but may be too powerful for city use. The Hyundai Venue is a good option, but at a price of ₹14-15 lakh, the XUV 3XO seems like a better value. I am also unsure about Maruti options like the Swift (concerns about fit and finish) and the Baleno (feels slightly large and low-slung). Given these considerations, which car would you recommend?

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza VXi AT is a good option for your wife’s city use in Pune, it is the right size, has a smooth automatic and is not too powerful, and it's easy on the pocket. Compared to your Hyundai Creta, the Brezza feels much smaller in traffic and easier to park. The high seat and big windows make it simple to judge gaps and U-turns, which will help on narrow Pune roads. The AT here is a regular automatic (not an AMT), so it moves off gently, shifts with minimal jerks, and is very calm in stop-go traffic. AC performance is strong, and overall fit and finish are better than in the Maruti Suzuki Swift or Baleno. Maruti’s service reach in Pune is a bonus for easy ownership. The cabin does not feel as plush as a Venue or XUV 3XO, but for daily city use, it works very well. If you want to spend less and still want a very smooth auto, look at the Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT. It is very compact, and the CVT is easy in traffic, though the cabin feels simpler, and Nissan’s service network is smaller. If you do stretch, the Mahindra XUV 3XO AX5L AT is also easy to drive despite its power and offers top safety and features.
