I currently own a Toyota Innova Crysta 2.8 ZX Variant AT, which has covered 55,000 km and has been an absolute peace of mind. I am now planning to upgrade my vehicle with a budget of around Rs. 30 lakh. Which car would you recommend?

@vijayan_s Go for Innova HyCross because it's trouble free, safe on the highway, easy to drive in the city, automatic Transmission, Hybrid saves fuel, cost of Petrol, quite comfortable to drive.

There is no Upgrade over Innova Crysta. It's my second Innova I drove my first almost 1 lakh and now second I purchased in 2017 completes approx. 2 lakh without any trouble. There is no other vechile to compare with

Take another new Innova Crysta, as you cannot get the punch at aceralator like Crysta on non of the vehicle. As it's relaiblity is at par. Owing since 2017, never thinking of selling it off. It's a gem afterall.

@tushardesai It's something else, I have creta too. But that punch on aceralator which Crysta gives is unparallel. Only drawback with Crysta is the back wheels skids a lot on slops. On wet grass, on pebbles, on sand.... Have changed tyres but this infection is not going. Wheelbalancing n Alignment are also been done. Nothing worked out.

Have been suing Honda Elevate automatic for the last 18 months . Fairly good mileage at 13.8 and a very easy car to drive or have the backseat

An Innova Crysta with 55K is quite new. I’ve driven both, Crysta. 2.8 as well Hycross. The Crysta shines as a rugged and torquey tourer. The Hycross is all about backseat luxury (and here it beats the Crysta hands down) I’d rather you retain the Crysta as long as you can. 2 lakhs kms is when a Crysta can be considered ‘used’

@vijayan_s do note that the Hycross Hybrid isn’t particularly fuel efficient as it’s assumed to be. Mine is still less than 11 kmpl, which may be acceptable for a car this size, but don’t expect Diesel like efficiency. But it certainly is more spacious than the Crysta. The third to especially is surprisingly spacious and comfortable, even for adults. Also, cabin noise is negligible, compared to the Crysta (Diesel)

@radhika.1 In your budget and city-focused usage, I would recommend the Jeep Compass Automatic for its premium feel and driving experience, while the MG Hector Plus CVT is a great alternative if you want more space, features, and a comfortable cabin.

If you are looking at the Toyota Innova Hycross today, we would not wait for the facelift. Typical of Toyota and especially the Innova, the facelift is unlikely to bring major mechanical changes, and at most there might be a few more feature additions and some cosmetic updates. In fact, the bigger risk is that the facelift could push prices up slightly, which would hurt the value proposition of the GX (O). The Hycross is already a very well-rounded MPV with excellent space, comfort and Toyota’s proven reliability. If you need the car now, there is no strong reason to delay the purchase.

I own a Maruti Vitara Breeza ZDI 2017 model vehicle and the vehicle has completed nearly 69000 km till date. I have moved to Delhi and the issue with not allowing BS4 vehicles to run during winters is looming large. My diesel car will turn 10 year old by June 2027 and so I want to upgrade my to suit my needs. We are a family of 3 and occasionally my mother joins us, sometimes relatives visit us and a pet dog also accompanies us on most of our long drives. I am looking for a car with features like sunroof, large infotainment and ventilated seats. Should it be a petrol, diesel or hybrid vehicle and should it be a 5 or 7 seater? My budget is less than 30 lakhs and I will be owning the vehicle for at least next 10 years.

Your annual running is relatively low, so a petrol makes more sense than a diesel or strong hybrid, especially considering Delhi's regulations and your plan to keep the car for the next 10 years. The XUV 7XO offers a spacious cabin, a usable third row for occasional family trips, plenty of luggage space with the third row folded for your pet, and comes loaded with the features you're looking for.The Kia Carens Clavis Turbo Petrol DCT is the more practical alternative. It offers even better interior space and practicality, especially if you expect to use the third row more often, the 1.5 turbo DCT has enough power and will be more efficient but it doesn't feel as rugged or as SUV-like as the Mahindra.

Hi, I currently drive a 2014 Maruti Suzuki Dzire Petrol and am planning to upgrade to a new SUV. My shortlisted options are the Kia Seltos HTX(A) DCT and the Mahindra XUV 7XO Petrol Automatic. My biggest concern with the XUV 7XO is its low fuel efficiency. My monthly running is less than 1,000 km, as I work from home, with a 60:40 city-to-highway split in the NCR. I also plan to use the new car for trips to the mountains, so it should offer strong performance, sufficient torque, and confident handling. I also test-drove the new Renault Duster and loved the driving experience, but I wasn't impressed by Renault's showroom and after-sales experience. Which of these would you recommend for my requirements?

The Seltos strikes a better balance between performance, efficiency and ease of ownership. The new Duster is a genuinely enjoyable driver’s car, but as a package does not score well against the Seltos in terms of equipment and space.The Seltos HTX(A) DCT is the most sensible choice here.

I am confused between Taigun 1.5 Sport and Seltos Diesel X-Line top model. I have owned the Polo AT and Vento AT in the past, so my love for Volkswagen is making this decision difficult.

Go for the Volkswagen Taigun 1.5 TSI Sport. Coming from a Polo and Vento automatic, you already appreciate Volkswagen’s driving DNA, and the Taigun 1.5 TSI is a natural progression. The engine is punchy, the DSG gearbox is quick and engaging, and the overall driving experience is far more involving than the Seltos. The Taigun also feels more compact and agile in the city, while still being comfortable on the highway. The Volkswagen Taigun mileage is 19.54 kpl for the 1.0 TSI AT, 19.98 kpl for the 1.0 TSI MT, and 18.85 kpl for the 1.5 TSI DCT.The Kia Seltos diesel X-Line is a strong all-rounder with better space, a more premium cabin and a more relaxed long-distance character, but it does not offer the same level of driver engagement. The diesel engine is efficient and torquey, but it lacks the excitement of the 1.5 TSI. Given your history with Volkswagen cars, the Taigun will simply feel more familiar and more enjoyable to drive every day. The Taigun price starts at Rs 11.00 lakh (ex-showroom).

With 5,000-7,000 km a year and mostly city driving, you are the ideal EV buyer. The Mahindra XEV 9S in its top-spec Pack Three guise will comfortably fit in your budget. With a 79kWh battery pack, you can easily expect a real-world range of around 480km in daily driving conditions. The 9S is also a full-size SUV with three rows, so practicality is excellent. There is a usable frunk as well, and the feature list is extensive with connected tech, panoramic sunroof, front and rear ventilated seats, drive modes, Level 2 ADAS and much more. Also, with 286hp, the 9S has plenty of performance for everyday needs. The overall package strikes a good balance and hence is our recommendation.
