Taking into consideration comfort, performance, off-roading ability, maintenance, fuel efficiency, on-road performance, and of course, value for money, should I go for the latest Mahindra Thar CRDe or the 2012 Mitsubishi Pajero SFX?
Mohammed Siyad, via email

AAA Both cars are quite different, and it all boils down to how serious an off-roader you are. The Pajero is several leagues ahead of the Thar, and is clearly the far superior vehicle and a great everyday SUV as well. We recommend the Pajero, but you simply cannot compare it to the Thar. However, if you are a hardcore off-roader, you need to decide if you’ll be happy letting your Pajero go through the wear and tear that comes with it. The Thar, on the other hand, is the cheaper way to off-road. It’s easy to fix and repair, and is surprisingly capable as well.
