I’m looking for a car for my dad. He’s a sedate driver, with daily usage of around 20-30 km and occasional highway trips. Annual running may be around 10,000 km. I want an automatic SUV with decent mileage. I’ve shortlisted the Tata Nexon Pure Plus AMT and the Skoda Kylaq Signature AT. Which would be the better choice? If not these, what would you recommend?

Of the two options you have shortlisted, the Skoda Kylaq is the one we'd recommend. It has a smoother automatic gearbox, which your dad will appreciate. Do note, the Kylaq's rear seat isn't as spacious as the Tata Nexon's, in case that is a requirement for you.
If you don't mind increasing your budget, the ideal fit for your father would be the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the VXI AT variant. It's got a smooth gearbox, comfortable ride quality, and a practical interior. Fuel efficiency is decent, and performance is adequate.
