Hi, I own a 2023 Nissan Magnite XE. My annual running is relatively low as I am retired. I underwent knee surgery six months ago, and therefore, I am considering upgrading to an automatic vehicle. Would it be possible and practical to upgrade from my current Nissan Magnite XE to an automatic version?

Yes, but not by converting your car. The safe and sensible route is to trade in your 2023 Magnite XE for a Magnite automatic. Given your knee surgery and low running, go for the turbo automatic version because this Nissan car is much smoother in traffic and takes the stress off your left leg completely. Be aware that the turbo automatic will sip a bit more fuel than your current manual.  

If you are on a tight budget, then the naturally aspirated Magnite can be had with an AMT, though it isn't the smoothest-shifting AMT out there. If you are looking for alternatives, then the Hyundai Exter AMT or the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R AMT could be good choices. They are both easy to get in and out of, compact for city use, and fuel-efficient.

I am a 2023 magniteblack CVT owner. I cannot think of any other petrol car in this budget that out performs it in any respect. Silent and smooth, good high speed control, Very good riding comfort, Okay good boot space. Nissan magnite mileage is on two extremes. In city it is around 10 12. In long trip early morning ride without much breaking at a 160 km speed I have got 23 24. That is like Hybrid mileage. For a compact SUV there is nothing more required. Nissan is surviving in India only because of this one good model. The new model comes with 6 airbag and more features but prices nearly the same as 2023 when I brought it new. Because of competition and because of GST reduction. This is the golden time for anyone with low running to buy a petrol car because petrol car prices I really come down and competition is so high. To somewhere you can buy Nissan magnet CVT with closed Eyes. It is better than Blanca taisor baleno nexon etc. I have a very good service experience in Trivandrum.

Moving to an automatic is a practical decision and will make driving much more comfortable, especially in traffic. If you're otherwise happy with the Magnite, upgrading to the Magnite CVT is a sensible and cost-effective option. It lets you enjoy the convenience of an automatic without having to adapt to an entirely new car.

It is also better suited if you regularly encounter bad roads or large speed breakers.The Maruti Suzuki Celerio remains an excellent option if fuel efficiency is your biggest priority. It is inexpensive to own and extremely frugal, but it doesn't feel as premium or as comfortable as the Hyundai pair.

I have to purchase a car for my 66-year-old father. He is currently driving a 7-year-old S-Cross VXi+, which has completed approximately 1.9 lakh km. Before that, he drove a Tata Manza for 3 lakh km and a Chevrolet Beat for 40,000 km. His usage is mostly on highways and the hilly roads of Nainital, with an average daily drive of around 40 km and yearly running of approximately 22,000+ km. His height is 170 cm. He drives calmly and conservatively at around 60–70 km/h and prioritises maximum fuel efficiency. I have shortlisted the Brezza LXi (due to its turbo-like low-end feel and seat height), Punch Adventure, and Exter HX6. Features are not a priority. My basic requirements are power windows, central locking, seat height adjustment, good ground clearance for rough terrain in Nainital, and good mileage. A reliable, affordable car with low maintenance costs and easily available service support is important, as the car will also be driven by a driver around 50% of the time. Please suggest the best option accordingly. Thank you. A big fan since 2003.

With a daily running of around 100 km, fuel efficiency becomes a major factor in ownership costs. The Skoda Kushaq petrol automatic is a good car, but the 10-13kpl you are seeing is typical for a turbo petrol automatic, especially with E20 petrol. At this usage, a diesel or a strong hybrid makes far more sense.If you do regular highway runs, a diesel is still the most practical and cost-effective solution. The Mahindra XUV 7XO diesel automatic would be the recommendation here. It is a strong highway car, comfortable, spacious and the diesel engine will deliver significantly better fuel efficiency than your Kushaq. Diesel running costs will be far lower over your kind of mileage. If that is out of your budget, something smaller like a Kia Seltos diesel, while not as powerful, is even more efficient.If your usage is mostly city a strong hybrid could be a better solution. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the most practical and cost-effective option. It is well priced, has a proven track record and will dramatically reduce your running costs. The strong hybrid is better suited to the city, where it is more likely to run on its electric motor than use the engine and deliver the better mileage.

I’m planning to buy an EV with a budget of Rs. 19 - 20 lakh. My heart says the Tata Sierra EV Pure 63, but my mind says the Kia Syros top variant because of features like ventilated seats. Kindly suggest which one would be the better choice.

The choice really comes down to your usage and what you value in the car. If you need more space for both passengers and luggage and have a few long drives that you would undertake, then opt for the Tata Sierra. It is a much larger car and has a very spacious interior. The ride quality is also very good over both bad city roads as well as high highway speeds. If, however, your usage is mainly going to be within the city, then the Kia Syros is the better buy. Its compact footprint will be much easier to manage while driving congested streets, and finding parking would be easier. You would also enjoy the top variant of Kia car and its features.

You want a naturally aspirated petrol engine, good mileage in both city and highway driving, and a spacious car for three people. The Brezza delivers on all those points. The 1.5-litre petrol engine of this Maruti Suzuki car is smooth and reliable, and the 6-speed torque converter automatic is well suited to Indian driving conditions. It is also a more spacious car than the Honda Amaze, with a wider cabin and better rear seat comfort for three people. The higher seating position and SUV stance also make it easier to drive in the city and over bad roads.The Amaze is a good car, but it is a compact sedan and does not offer the same level of space or practicality.
