@autocar.india, thanks for giving me clarity between the Venue and Creta. I observed that the Seltos has a better interior and have also read about its safety. Can you please help me decide between the Seltos facelift HTK(O) IVT and Creta SX(O) IVT?

Go for the Kia Seltos HTK (O) IVT. The Seltos and Creta are mechanically very similar cars that use the same engines and gearboxes, but the new-gen Seltos has a more premium interior and is larger, giving a roomier cabin, which makes it the better overall package. The HTK (O) IVT is a well-equipped variant, and the IVT gearbox is smooth and well-suited to city driving. The Creta SX (O) IVT is a higher variant, but the Seltos HTK (O) IVT still offers a strong feature set, and the overall ownership experience is very similar. The Seltos also has more modern tech inside its cabin, thanks to its new-gen electronic architecture, including high-res screens powered by Nvidia tech.

Sir, my budget is 20 lakh and I am planning to either get Hyundai Venue HX8 Turbo DCT for 15.40 lakh or Hyundai Creta SX automatic for 18.14 lakh on road. I am getting more than 1.5 lakh discount on Creta and Seltos is available for 19 lakh. I am confused between these cars in Bangalore. My use is office commute and occasionals trips. Please guide me.

Go for the Hyundai Creta SX(O) automatic at Rs 18.14 lakh on-road. Given your usage of office commuting with occasional trips, the Creta is the better long-term ownership proposition. The Venue HX8 DCT at Rs. 15.4 lakh is a good deal, but the Creta is a significantly larger and more comfortable car with a more spacious rear seat, better ride quality and a more premium overall experience. The Rs 1.5 lakh discount makes the Creta SX(O) a strong value proposition, and it sits well within your Rs. 20 lakh budget. The Seltos at Rs. 19 lakh is also a good car, but the Creta SX(O) at this price point is the better deal. The Venue is a compact SUV and while it is well-equipped, it simply cannot match the space, comfort and overall ownership experience of the Creta. The Creta is the car you will be happier with over a 5-10 year ownership period.

Hi, I am a first-time car buyer and earn around Rs 1 lakh per month. I am planning to buy a car this year and have shortlisted the Maruti Brezza facelift, Hyundai Venue and Kia Seltos. My usage will be roughly 50% in the city and 50% on the highway. Which of these would be the better choice for a first-time buyer? In the Brezza facelift, the 1.5-litre engine costs around Rs 1 lakh more than the 1.0-litre turbo. Would it be worth spending the extra amount on the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, or is the 1.0-litre turbo a better choice? What are the key differences between these two engines, especially in terms of performance, comfort and ease of driving? My main priorities are comfort and an easy, relaxed driving experience.

The Maruti Suzuki Brezza 1.5 petrol automatic would be the best fit for you. As a first-time buyer with a 50:50 city-highway usage pattern and comfort and ease of driving as priorities, the Brezza's smooth, predictable power delivery, light controls and comfortable ride make it the easiest car here to live with. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine is also the better choice if you want an automatic. At the same time, the 1.0-litre turbo makes sense mainly if you prefer a manual and want stronger mid-range performance. The extra Rs 1 lakh for the 1.5 is worth spending if the automatic is the preference.The new Hyundai Venue is more feature-rich and feels more modern inside, while its 1.0-litre turbo offers stronger performance than the Brezza 1.5. However, its DCT is not as effortless as a torque converter in slow city traffic, so it isn't the first choice if easy driving is the priority. The new Kia Seltos is the most premium and spacious of the three and would be the better choice if the budget comfortably allows it, but it is a significant step up in price and may not be the wisest choice on a Rs 1 lakh monthly income.

DCT gearboxes are at their best in spirited driving and can be less comfortable in heavy traffic, while turbo-petrol engines are not the most efficient option for high-mileage ownership.Given your running, a diesel Seltos would actually be the more sensible choice today. It will prove to be more efficient, well-suited to long commutes and offer a strong ownership proposition. However, since you are already considering waiting, it is worth holding on for the upcoming Seltos and Hyundai New Creta hybrid models expected next year. A strong hybrid will deliver significantly better fuel efficiency in your kind of usage and will be a better long-term ownership proposition than a turbo-petrol DCT.If you need the car immediately, go for the Seltos diesel. If you can wait, the hybrid is the smarter long-term choice.

We would strongly advise against installing aftermarket CNG on any of these SUVs. All three – the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and Scorpio N - are large, heavy vehicles with powerful turbocharged petrol engines. Fitting CNG to such engines is not recommended, as it can lead to drivability issues, increased wear and potential reliability concerns over time. More importantly, these SUVs are not designed with CNG in mind, and the installation can compromise safety and performance.If fuel economy is a top priority, opt for their diesel versions instead. The Mahindra and Tata offer strong torque, excellent highway efficiency and are well-suited to long-distance touring. If you are set on CNG, it is better to look at smaller, naturally aspirated petrol cars that are either factory-fitted or specifically designed for CNG use.Between the three, the XUV 7XO diesel would be our recommendation. It offers a more modern package, better ride comfort and a more premium cabin than the Scorpio N, while the Safari diesel is also a strong contender if you prefer Tata's design and feature set. But CNG should not be the deciding factor here.
