Hi everyone, I'm planning to buy my first car and would really appreciate your suggestions. My priorities are safety (top priority), good-looking design, decent mileage and automatic transmission. I drive around 1,000 km per month and this will be my first car. I plan to keep it for at least 5 years and I am currently considering Maruti Suzuki Brezza (2026), Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO. If you have owned or driven any of these, I would love to hear about your real-world experience regarding reliability, service and maintenance costs, automatic gearbox performance, mileage and comfort for city and highway driving. I am also curious about long-term ownership experience. Which one would you recommend, and why? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Out of the options you've listed, the Nexon 1.2 Turbo DCA and XUV 3XO Turbo AT deliver better value than the Brezza, as far as equipment and performance go. Out of these, the Mahindra XUV 3XO is a solid choice for its smoother, stronger engine and its seamless 6-speed torque converter (automatic). Cabin space is very good, and it drives like a more expensive car, giving you a confident experience be it in the city or out on the highway. Before going ahead, do keep in mind that the XUV's boot is a bit small, fuel efficiency might not be as good as the Brezza's, and Mahindra's service network isn't as widespread as Maruti's. However, on the whole, the XUV feels is a good option, and one that we'd recommend.

The CVT gearbox is far smoother and more refined than the Nexon's AMT, especially in city driving. If you are open to other options, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza automatic is worth considering. I am quite particular about my car's maintenance, as I get it serviced every 8 months without fail. Please suggest whether this is the right choice.

We are planning to buy a CNG vehicle for our family. Our monthly running is usually around 200-300 km, although in some months it may increase to 500-600 km. We currently own a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R CNG and are looking to upgrade to a compact SUV or SUV that offers better comfort, safety, and features for family use. We are confused between the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris CNG and the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza 2026. Which model would be the best choice?

With your monthly running of 200-300 km, occasionally rising to 500-600 km, CNG is not the most financially compelling choice. The payback period will be quite long, and you will be living with the compromises of CNG - reduced boot space, lower power output and refuelling queues. If you still want a CNG, the Victoris is the best bet among your picks. Between the Grand Vitara CNG and Victoris CNG, the Victoris is the better choice as it is essentially the same car underneath, but it uses an underfloor tank so you retain much of the boot space. Compared to the new Brezza, the Victoris is a larger car, so the interior is roomier, more premium, and the ride is a bit more comfortable too, making it a better long-term family car.Overall, the Victoris is a good choice for your needs, but with your limited usage, it will take about four years to recoup the extra Rs 90,000 the CNG commands over the regular Victoris.

Go for the Toyota Innova Crysta. Your usage is highway-heavy with occasional city runs, and you want a proper 7-seater with good luggage space and a premium feel. The Crysta is still the benchmark for this kind of requirement. It is genuinely spacious in all three rows, has a large and usable boot even with all seats up, and is built for long-distance comfort and reliability. The diesel engine is strong, refined and well-suited to highway cruising, and Toyota’s ownership experience and long-term reliability are hard to beat. The Mahindra XUV 7XO is the more modern product with a more premium-looking interior and a better sound system, but it does not match the Crysta for outright space, practicality or long-term peace of mind. If your priority is a proper 7-seater that will serve you well for years, the Crysta is the safer and more sensible choice. If you want a more premium cabin and a richer feature set, the XUV 7XO is the alternative, but it is not as practical as the Crysta.

With a yearly running of just 6,000km, petrol is the sensible choice, and the Hyundai Alcazar is a good option. It is a comfortable, easy-to-drive family SUV with a hassle-free ownership experience, and the 1.5 turbo petrol engine paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic is powerful enough and relatively efficient too. Plus, since you're coming from a Creta, you'll be familiar with the Hyundai network and could even ask for a loyalty discount. However, the Alcazar’s third row is not as spacious as some larger cars in the segment, so if you genuinely need a proper 7-seater, it may not be the ideal solution. What's more, if your Creta is the 2020 or newer model, you'll find the Alcazar perhaps a little too familiar on the inside.The Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus are good options that offer more space. However, as you have noted, they're not fuel efficient at all, and moreover, in your budget, you will only get a low to mid-spec variant, whereas you will get a fully-loaded Alcazar. Another option to consider, though not an SUV, is the Kia Carens Clavis. Its MPV shape is more space-efficient, and you actually get more passenger and luggage room than the Alcazar, with the same efficient engines, for around the same price.

Hi, I am a teacher and a first-time female driver with a budget of Rs. 11.5 lakh. I am looking for an automatic car that I plan to keep for the next 15 years, but I am confused about whether to buy a petrol AMT, CNG AMT, or an EV due to the uncertainty surrounding ethanol blending. My daily commute is 46 km, of which 22 km is on the highway, 18 km is on normal roads, and 6 km is on bumpy village roads in poor condition. We'd recommend a petrol automatic. With a daily running of around 46km and an ownership period of 15 years, it offers the best balance of low ownership costs, reliability and ease of use for a first-time driver.We wouldn't let E20 fuel influence your decision. Modern E20-compliant petrol cars are designed to run on it, and there is no official roadmap beyond E20. It isn't a reason to avoid buying a petrol car today. A CNG automatic will certainly reduce your fuel bills, but the higher purchase price, reduced boot space and limited automatic options make CNG car less attractive unless fuel savings are your overriding priority. An electric car will have the lowest running costs, but at your budget, you'll have to compromise on size or features, and recovering the higher upfront cost will take time.Given your budget and usage, we'd look at the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift automatic which will launch soon if you can stretch slightly, or the Maruti Suzuki Fronx Delta+ AGS if you want to stay within budget. Both are easy to drive, have good ground clearance for the 6km of rough village roads and come backed by Maruti Suzuki's extensive service network. If you prefer a smoother automatic, the Hyundai Exter SX AMT is also worth considering.
