McLaren's Lewis Hamilton ended Formula One's final pre season test in Barcelona as fastest of all 23 drivers who took part.

In the combined times taken from all four days of the test, Hamilton was fastest from Red Bull's Mark Webber and Ferrari's Felipe Massa. Hamilton's team mate Jenson Button was 15th overall, while Mercedes' Michael Schumacher was ninth.

Adrian Sutil continued to show evidence that Force India has made progress with its new car as he set the fourth quickest time during an afternoon qualifying simulation. Although track conditions were slightly better in the afternoon – with wind and dust in the morning having left the circuit low on grip – his strong day was encouraging for the German.

Only two of F1's four new teams took part in the test, Virgin and Lotus, after the continued absence of both Campos and US F1. Campos is expected to make the grid for Bahrain in 13 days time, although US F1's future looks less secure. Stefan GP is ready to take its place on the grid should the American team fail to make it.
