From the table above, one can see that Mahindra sold 4,25,329 diesel utility vehicles (including 166 units of the Marazzo MPV), compared to just 1,13,268 petrol models in FY2025. The biggest contributors to Mahindra’s petrol sales were the XUV 3XO (69,496 units) – the only Mahindra SUV where diesel powertrain sales were fewer – followed by the XUV700 (22,910 units) and the Scorpio N (11,447 units). The Thar and Thar Roxx contributed 3,235 units and 6,180 units, respectively, to Mahindra’s total petrol count.

While the XUV 3XO gets two petrol engine options – a 111hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit and a 131hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged mill – other Mahindra SUVs share the 2.0-litre four-cylinder direct-injection turbo engine, which is available in various states of tune, from 152hp to 204hp.

Over 1.5 lakh diesel Scorpio SUVs sold in FY2025.

The Scorpio brand, which consists of the Classic and the Scorpio N, contributed 1,53,395 diesel SUVs to Mahindra’s FY2025 total. This makes it the bestselling diesel model for Mahindra, with petrols accounting for less than 7 percent. The Mahindra Bolero (including the Neo) and Marazzo are only available with a 1.5-litre diesel mill, and sold 94,750 units and 166 units, respectively. 93 percent of Mahindra Thars sold in FY2025 were powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine, while Thar Roxx diesels accounted for nearly 84 percent of the 5-door lifestyle SUV’s sales.

While the XUV 3XO and Marazzo get a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, the Bolero and Neo have a three-cylinder unit. The larger Mahindra SUVs share the 2.2-litre diesel engine, which is available in 155-185hp states of tune.

Mahindra records EV sales of over 12,000 in FY2025

With sales of about 4,860 units, the XUV400’s contribution to Mahindra’s 5.51 lakh total is a meagre 0.88 percent. However, sales of the company’s two new born EVs – the BE 6 and XEV 9e – crossed the 8,000-unit mark in the fiscal year, accounting for 1.46 percent of Mahindra’s total sales.
