Volkswagen Ameo launched at Rs 5.24 lakh

Volkswagen has launched its first compact sedan, the Ameo, in India. The Ameo is priced from Rs 5.24 lakh for the base Trendline trim, going up to Rs 7.06 lakh for the Highline trim (ex-showroom, Delhi). The ex-showroom price for the Ameo compact sedan in Mumbai ranges from Rs 5.14 lakh to
Rs 6.98 lakh.

The Ameo has been introduced with Volkswagen’s 1.2-litre petrol engine that also powers the Polo, and will receive a 1.5-litre diesel engine along with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox later this year. All three variants of the Ameo – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline – come equipped with ABS and dual front airbags as standard. Here’s a look at the feature list for each variant:

The Ameo compact sedan comes with quite a few first-in-class features like the rain-sensing wipers and cruise control. It rivals with cars like the Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Figo Aspire and the Tata Zest.
