The Volvo Concept XC SUV has been revealed in a new set of leaked images.

These images were leaked online, and purport to show the Concept XC, itself a preview of the upcoming Volvo XC90 SUV which is due to be revealed before the end of the year.

Volvo has already confirmed that, as XC-badged vehicles form the backbone of its range, Concept XC hints at the future design direction of those models.

Concept XC is the second of three planned design studies from Volvo, each created under new design boss Thomas Ingenlath.

The first design study, the Volvo Concept Coupé, was last seen at the Tokyo motor show. That model showcased Volvo's new scalable platform architecture, which will be used to underpin majority of the firm's future models. The XC is again based on the flexible SPA platform.

Volvo says the Concept XC showcases its integration of safety technology, as well as traditional Scandinavian design elements.
