    Toyota's splendid April growth

Toyota Kirloskar Motor registered its second best month in terms of sales in April when it sold 9681 units. That was a growth of 61 percent over April ‘10. The growth is largely driven by the sales of the Etios which sold 4657 units last month.

The other products showed a drop in sales, a fallout from the production adjustment observed from 25th April to 4th June 2011. The company earlier announced temporary production adjustment in light of the supply difficulties, following the March 11, earthquake and tsunami in Japan. According to the company, it lost nearly 2900 units of sales last month, due to the production adjustment at its two plants.

Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, TKM said, “The growth last month can be attributed to the encouraging sales of Etios. We have so far sold 12758 units since its launch in Dec last year.” He further adds, “The actual impact of the temporary production adjustment will be felt in the month of May, as we will operate at 30 percent of our normal capacity. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our customers. Our dealers will be in constant touch with them and will keep them updated on the developments. This is just a temporary phase, we will resume production as soon as possible.”

March ’11 was TKM’s best-ever month so far, in terms of sales, when it sold 9726 vehicles to its dealers. .
